Fall Hair Makeover: Tips for Preserving Color

In reality, we are all looking for that magic formula to keep our hair color vibrant and lasting as long as possible (especially all of us faux redheads out there).  There are many tips and tricks we can try at home to extend the life of our color, but in addition to that there are things a stylist can do starting at the chair, that not only guarantee a longer lasting vibrant hair color, but your client’s heart as well.  We did just that at Salon Olez.

To start, we DETOXED the hair with Olez's O2 Detox System for the hair & scalp. Detoxing the hair gets rid of years of build up, opening and cleaning the hair cuticles, creating a perfect canvas for deep and intense color.

Key:  Detoxing the hair, is essential for the color to better penetrate the hair cuticle, making it last longer and look more vibrant.

Other home remedies and "do it yourself" at home detox kits can take multiple applications through a course of several weeks before completely eliminating any residue accumulation in the hair. A lot of these at home detox kits are often messy and leave your hair with a gritty texture that becomes a nightmare to comb out. 

Olez O2 is a professional system performed at your salon. It is applied in 4 steps which takes about 30 minutes or less (detoxing the hair is recommended prior to color application). 

Detox Steps:

1. Dampen the hair and apply O2 steps 1 & 2. They work together to remove the build up in the hair and rinse. 

2. With the hair cuticle clean and open, apply the color of choice as usual and allow time to process. 

3. After rinsing and shampooing the hair, apply O2 step 3 the Nutrient Serum. This puts nutrients back into the hair and reseals the cuticle.

4. Then apply step 4, the Thermo Protector which provides a hydrophobic film around the hair shaft protecting the hair color from heat and defending the hair from harmful UV ray exposure.

You want this color?! We used 5RV Medium Red Violet for this hair color with a 20 Volume. We applied the color to the roots first. Once the roots were completely covered, we applied the color to the rest of the hair and let it process for 45 minutes and VOILA!!! We are ready for the upcoming Fall season with a beautiful, vibrant RED! Now bring on the Pumpkin Spice Latte!
